Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 508 individuals and filed 50 cases during routine drives across the capital over the last 24 hours.
The various crime and detective divisions of the DMP carried out the raids in different police stations to recover illegal weapons and narcotics.
According to DMP, the highest number of arrests was made by Uttara Division with 137 people, followed by Mirpur with 95 and Tejgaon with 68.
Other arrests included 53 from Gulshan, 52 from Ramna, 48 from Motijheel, 32 from Wari, and 23 from Lalbagh.
During the drives, law enforcers recovered 1.260 kg of cannabis, 381 pieces of Yaba, 8 grams of heroin, 12 bottles of foreign liquor, two pieces of foil paper, two corks, one sharp knife, six sacks containing various types of Indian homeopathic medicine, 14 mobile phones, and Tk22,120 in cash.
Legal action against the arrested individuals is underway.
