The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) concluded its two-day District Coach recruitment examination on Thursday, with a practical assessment following Wednesday’s written test.
The recruitment drive is part of the BCB’s grassroots cricket development programme, aimed at identifying and developing qualified coaches across the country.
With the examination process now complete, the BCB’s Game Development Committee is awaiting the assessment report from the Technical Committee before announcing the results.
“As for the assessment, I still cannot say anything at this stage. Let the Technical Committee complete the entire process first. Once the results come to us, I will be able to say more,” a Game Development Department official told Times of Bangladesh.
Around 170 candidates took part in the recruitment process for district-level coaching positions.
“As for participation, I think around 175 people took the exam yesterday, so roughly 170-plus,” the official said.
While the BCB is keen to appoint coaches for every district and the Dhaka Metropolitan area, the official insisted that selections would be made strictly on merit rather than filling positions for the sake of numbers.
“There is not much scope to leave positions vacant. At the same time, if we do not find enough good candidates, there is nothing we can do. We are hoping to find the best candidates. For now, we are waiting to see what the Technical Committee decides,” the official said.
