The Government of India has assigned Union Cabinet Minister–equivalent status to Dinesh Trivedi, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, for ceremonial functions.
According to an office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the status is personal to Trivedi and does not amend the official Table of Precedence (ToP). The order applies only to ceremonial occasions.
The memorandum, signed by Under Secretary Kamlesh Rabidas, was circulated to all ministries, state governments, constitutional bodies, and the Ministry of External Affairs.
It follows a request conveyed by the ministry through Joint Secretary Siddhartha Nath.
