The Dhaka First Division Football League is set to kick off on 15 November at Kamalapur Stadium, confirmed Sabbir Ahmed Arif, Chairman of the Dhaka Metropolis League Committee, during a press briefing on Thursday at BFF House. The league will offer BDT 2 lakh to the champions and BDT 1 lakh to the runners-up as prize money.
Arif said the Metropolis League Committee had worked hard to ensure the competition starts on time and runs smoothly. “We are starting the league as scheduled. The champion will receive two lakh taka, and the runners-up will get one lakh. The Fair Play Award will be 25,000 taka, and the Best Player Award will be 15,000 taka,” he said.
He also mentioned that the total prize pool could increase depending on sponsorship deals currently under discussion. “We are in talks with potential sponsors. Once confirmed, the prize money might be raised further,” he added.
All matches will take place at Kamalapur Stadium, with three fixtures each day, though the opening day will feature just one match. The venue was chosen for its accessibility and suitability for the schedule.
Arif also emphasised that strict action would be taken against any form of match-fixing or misconduct. “Everyone has promised to keep the competition fair. If any club or player is found involved in fixing, punishment will be severe, there will be no compromise,” he warned.
