Three more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 135 this year.
The latest deaths were recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation, Chattogram Division (outside city corporation areas) and Mymensingh Division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 580 new patients were hospitalised with viral fever, bringing the total number of cases this year to 34,411.
DGHS data shows that new cases were distributed as follows: 128 in Barishal Division (outside CC), 94 in Chattogram Division (outside CC), 85 in Dhaka Division (outside CC), 85 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 80 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 32 in Khulna Division (outside CC), 55 in Rajshahi Division (outside CC), 17 in Mymensingh Division (outside CC), three in Rangpur Division and one in Sylhet Division (outside CC).
At present, 1,571 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives. DGHS data shows there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in 2024.
