Quinton de Kock returns to international cricket after 704 days as South Africa take on Namibia in a one-off T20 match at the new Namibia Cricket Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday. The match will mark the official opening of Namibia’s first international cricket ground and the first-ever meeting between the two nations.
De Kock last played an international T20 in 2023. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter’s comeback brings experience and star power to the Proteas lineup, who are aiming to recover from a poor run of results in the format. South Africa have not won any of their last three T20 series, losing to New Zealand and Australia before drawing with England.
For Namibia, the focus will be on celebrating a historic home occasion. They recently qualified for the 2026 T20 World Cup after a strong campaign in the African Regional Qualifiers. Although they fell short in the final against Zimbabwe, the hosts took plenty of positives from the tournament.
JJ Smit led their charge with 197 runs at a stunning average of 98.50 and also claimed six wickets. JN Loftie-Eaton was equally impressive, taking ten wickets in five matches at an average of 6.40.
