The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) earlier this month signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) to align market rules, strengthen oversight and attract investment.

The pact covers cooperation on financial investment laws, governance frameworks, policy processes of self-regulatory organisations and stronger supervision and compliance systems, DBA said in a press release issued on Saturday.

It also includes improving transaction systems, developing new investment instruments and services, expanding investor education and consultations on areas of mutual interest.

The aim is to raise efficiency, transparency and institutional capacity by aligning local practices with global standards and boosting investor confidence.

JSDA Chairman and CEO Takashi Hibino and DBA President Saiful Islam signed the agreement on 9 April.

The deal marks DBA’s first formal partnership with an international self-regulatory organisation, a step towards deeper integration with global capital markets.

“This MoU represents a significant advancement for Bangladesh’s capital market,” said DBA President Saiful Islam.

He said collaboration with JSDA would strengthen market structure, governance and institutional capacity.

The partnership is expected to support the adoption of global best practices and make the market more transparent and investor-friendly, he added.

He also said the agreement would help build a more organised, dynamic and internationally aligned market benefiting participants.

DBA thanked JSDA and stakeholders for their support and expressed hope for a long-term partnership.

JSDA operates the Asia Securities Forum, a regional platform for the securities industry.

DBA has been a member since 2023 and has taken part in meetings, seminars and initiatives under the forum to support market development.
