Bangladeshi indie-pop singer-songwriter Dameer Khan has released the official music video for his song ‘Dhaka Love’, which premiered on Halloween in collaboration with SVF Music.
Dameer described the bilingual track as ‘A love letter to Little Bangladesh, Toronto’, reflecting the experiences of the Bangladeshi diaspora through a blend of Bengali and English vocals.
Co-directed by Dameer, Saifi and Moreeshades, the video follows a Bangladeshi student spending his final hours in Canada before his work permit expires. Surrounded by close friends, he revisits familiar places and shares a final dinner at Ruposhi Bangla Restaurant in Toronto.
The narrative explores displacement, uncertainty and the emotional ties that connect expatriates to their homeland. The lyrics combine English R&B verses with Bengali spoken-word passages, drawing on everyday details such as tea, cigarettes and old Bangladeshi cassettes to evoke memories of home.
The video’s multilingual outro moves through emotions of joy, pain, frustration and disorientation before returning to themes of hope and love.
The music video features Esha, Aagnita, Usayed Ahmad, Saimum Saeed and Sadaf.
Dameer is known for his genre-blending indie-pop music, which often explores the emotional experiences of the diaspora. The official video is available on the SVF Music YouTube channel.
