Actress Parsa Evana has raised concerns about unprofessional practices in Bangladesh’s television industry, revealing that she has personally experienced last-minute casting changes even after being selected for a role.

The actress recently discussed the issue in a social media post, arguing that greater professionalism is needed in the making and casting of television dramas.

She believes the industry has strong stories but often fails to present them properly because of problems in production and artist selection.

Parsa later spoke to the media about what prompted her post. She explained that she had recently watched a podcast in a neighbouring country where experienced actors and writers openly discussed the strengths and weaknesses of television dramas. She felt similar conversations should take place in Bangladesh.

According to Parsa, some roles are written with a particular actor in mind, and the artist is initially told that the character has been created specifically for them.

However, producers or other people involved in a project sometimes change the decision just before shooting begins, leaving the selected actor out of the production. She said she had faced this situation herself and found it extremely frustrating.

The actress clarified that her comments were not intended to target anyone personally. Instead, she wanted to encourage greater awareness and professionalism in casting and production.

She also said she was not concerned about whether her remarks might affect future work opportunities. Parsa believes sincere effort and hard work will eventually receive recognition.

Her comments come as she continues to build her career following the success of the television series ‘Bachelor Point’. Playing Eva in one season of the popular series brought her widespread recognition and changed her relationship with audiences.

Parsa said the role gave her a level of recognition she had not experienced before. Even though she appeared in only one season, viewers still approach her at events and public gatherings and express their desire to see her return to the series.

The actress also hopes to make her big-screen debut. She has received several film offers but has turned them down because the scripts did not meet her expectations.

For Parsa, a film must offer a meaningful character and an opportunity to demonstrate her acting abilities. She places importance on the story, screenplay, director and writer rather than accepting a project simply to appear in a film.

She recently received appreciation for her performance in the drama ‘Mr Badal’. Over the past seven to eight months, she has completed shooting for five dramas.

Parsa believes more open discussions about production standards and casting decisions could help Bangladesh’s television industry improve and make better use of its strong storytelling potential.
