The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) elections has passed.
A total of 413 nomination papers were submitted for the 26 CUCSU positions. Students had collected 528 nomination forms for various positions, meaning 115 forms were not submitted.
For the Hall union, 635 nomination forms were distributed, with 502 being submitted, and 133 forms remain unsubmitted till the filing of this report.
Election Commissioner and Secretary AKM Ariful Haque Siddique shared this information in a briefing held on Thursday night at around 8pm.
In total, 1,163 individuals collected nomination papers for CUCSU positions, with 915 submissions. However, 248 forms were not submitted.
Siddique stated, “Thursday marked the last day for submitting nomination papers. We distributed 528 nomination forms for CUCSU, and within two days, 413 forms were submitted, leaving 115 unsubmitted.
“We will now verify these forms. As per the schedule, we are working on publishing the provisional list of candidates by Sunday.”
Regarding the Hall union nominations, the Election Commissioner reported the following submissions: 38 in the F Rahman Hall, 33 in Alaol Hall, 38 in Atish Dipankar Hall, 43 in Shah Amanat Hall, 31 in Shaheed Abdur Rob Hall, 47 in Shaheed Farhad Hossain Hall, 36 in Shahjalal Hall, 53 in Suhrawardy Hall, 37 in Surja Sen hall (combined male and female), 29 in Bijoy 24 Hall, 31 in Khaleda Zia Hall, 17 in Nawab Faizunnesa Hall, 26 in Preetilata Hall, 22 in Shamsun Nahar Hall, and 21 in Abdur Rashid Hostel.
According to the election schedule, the preliminary candidate list will be published on September 22. Candidates can withdraw their nominations by Tuesday, and any objections can be raised starting Monday. Objections will be resolved by next Wednesday.
