Chittagong district administration will launch a special cleanliness campaign and public awareness programme across the district from 25 July under the slogan: “Clean city and village, build an aesthetic Chittagong.”
The initiative aims to prevent mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue, and ensure hygienic working environments in government offices.
A colourful rally will begin at 10am from the Chittagong Circuit House on Saturday, passing through Kazir Deuri, Navy Mor, Officers’ Club, and Radisson Blu Mor, before returning to the Circuit House. Similar rallies will be held at designated locations under the guidance of the respective Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs).
Following the rallies, a coordinated cleanliness drive will start at 11:00am in all government offices across Chittagong city and upazilas. Officials have been instructed to clear rooftops, courtyards, gardens, drains, and surrounding areas of stagnant water and waste to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
District Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah said the campaign will not be limited to a single day. “To make cleanliness sustainable and a part of daily life, this campaign will be conducted at least one day every week,” he said.
A notice signed by Additional District Commissioner (General) Mohammad Sharif Uddin has called on all government offices and relevant institutions in Chittagong to implement the programme at the designated time.
