Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has published the country’s first Bangla-language publication on commodity derivatives trading, titled “Commodity Derivatives Insights”, as part of efforts to build awareness and expand understanding of commodity market operations in Bangladesh.
CSE Chairman AKM Habibur Rahman unveiled the publication recently in the presence of members of the exchange’s board of directors, according to a press release.
The book provides an overview of commodity derivatives markets, market participants and futures contract trading mechanisms, alongside explanations of price risk management, hedging practices and the role of clearing corporations in commodity exchanges.
Habibur Rahman said readers would gain a structured understanding of participants in organised commodity markets and the operational process of futures contracts trading through the publication.
He said the book also explains the relationship and differences between commodity derivatives and spot markets, while highlighting the importance of hedging in the broader economy.
The publication includes frequently asked questions on commodity derivatives trading, technical terminology and introductory discussions on commodities expected to be traded during the initial phase of the proposed CSE commodity exchange.
It also discusses the current state and future potential of Bangladesh’s commodity market.
CSE said the publication aims to reduce knowledge gaps among potential market participants and encourage broader interest in commodity exchange trading and risk management tools.
