Forest Department has relocated the only female crocodile inhabiting the pond of the historic shrine of Khan Jahan Ali (R) in Bagerhat on Wednesday.
Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Atiya Khatun confirmed the matter and said the crocodile is being transported to the Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division, Khulna.
This relocation follows an incident three days ago when a child was killed in a crocodile attack.
Consequently, during an emergency meeting at the district administration on Tuesday, it was decided to relocate the animal to ensure public safety.
Locals have expressed relief following the removal of the crocodile.
