Court orders seizure of ex-army officer Nazim’s family tax files

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of the wife and son of Lieutenant General (retired) Md Nazim Uddin in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Tuesday following an application filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Court bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain confirmed the development.

The order was issued to the Commissioners of Tax Zone-9 and Zone-10 in Dhaka, instructing them to submit certified copies of income tax returns and related documents of Aziza Taher, wife of the retired army officer, and their son Mohammad Jaem bin Nazim. The documents cover the tax years from 2013–14 to 2025–26.

In its petition, the ACC stated that an investigation is ongoing against retired Lt Gen Nazim Uddin over allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income.

The commission argued that the tax records of his family members are necessary for the proper conduct of the investigation.

ACC Assistant Director Akhtaruzzaman moved the application before the court. After hearing the petition, the court approved the request.
