BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee and a former lawmaker said building a discrimination-free “New Bangladesh” is the main goal of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
He said Tarique Rahman’s slogan is “Bangladesh first”, adding that whether people are from the hills, indigenous communities or belong to any ethnicity or religion, everyone living within the country shares the same identity as Bangladeshis.
Anee made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a grand rally organised in the capital’s 300 Feet area to mark a reception for Tarique Rahman.
Referring to party ideology, he said Ziaur Rahman considered every citizen of the country equally important and used to compare Bangladesh’s diverse society to the seven colours of a rainbow, believing that a complete state is formed through the participation of all people.
Speaking about party leadership, Anee said that after Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman is now successfully leading the party as the political successor of Shaheed Zia.
He also praised the role of grassroots leaders and activists in building a new Bangladesh, saying capable and dedicated party workers are leading units at district, upazila and municipal levels, and that their commitment and hard work are laying the foundation for a prosperous Bangladesh in the future.
