A complaint has been filed at Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station against nine people, including National Citizens’ Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary and its northern region Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam.
The complaint, lodged Thursday night by Iqbal Hossain Rukon, joint general secretary of Habiganj district unit of Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal, also named 50 unidentified individuals.
Md Zillur Rahman, general secretary of the JCD district unit, confirmed the development.
According to the complaint, Chhatra Dal activists gathered in front of the court mosque in Habiganj municipality last Tuesday as part of a central programme to meet the family of July fighter Ripon Shil. It alleged that Patwary, Sarjis and others attacked the activists with domestic weapons.
Earlier the same day, a separate case was filed against 11 individuals, including the JCD unit’s President Shah Rajib Ahmed Ringon, over allegations of attacking NCP leaders and activists.
Others named in the latest complaint are NCP Habiganj District Convenor Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Member Secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury Mubin, Chief Coordinator Nahid Uddin Tareq, National Shakti District Convenor Nur Alam Chowdhury, Fakhruddin Jaki, Md Abdul Hai Kamal and Ruham Gazi.
JCD leaders Mahfuz Chowdhury and Mozakkir Hossain Emon were among those injured. The plaintiff also alleged that attackers snatched four iPhones and cash during the incident.
Md Zillur Rahman said injured members received treatment.
Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station’s Officer-in-charge Zahid Hossain said police had received the written complaint but had not yet recorded a case, as allegations were being investigated before further action.
