Three people have been arrested, including the bus driver, over the alleged gang-rape of a college student on a moving bus on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
They were arrested from the Kartiya underpass area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Thursday afternoon.
Those arrested are driver Md Altaf, helper Md Sagar, and the driver’s associate Md Rabbi.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Elenga Highway Police Station, Md Sharif, stated that around 11:30pm on Wednesday night, the victim student boarded a Savar Paribahan bus from Radio Colony in Dhaka to go to Ashulia.
There were two other passengers on the bus at the time. After the passengers got off, they forcibly detained this college student, snatched her gold ornaments, money, and mobile phone. Later, the bus roamed around various places and the college student was gang-raped throughout the night and they recorded video.
He informed that when the bus was stopped in a suspicious condition on the Dhaka-bound lane of the Dhaka-Tangail highway at the Kartiya underpass area on the highway, Highway Police seized the bus and learned about the incident during interrogation.
