Cinema schedules in Dhaka are facing disruption as multiplexes begin scaling back evening screenings following new government directives.

Blockbuster Cinemas has confirmed that, from April 5, all daily shows will conclude before 6 pm until further notice, effectively removing prime-time slots from its schedule.

The decision follows instructions requiring shops and markets to close earlier in the evening, leaving theatres with limited operating hours. As a result, audiences accustomed to late-night screenings may need to adjust their viewing plans.

To address inconvenience, Blockbuster Cinemas has said that customers who purchased advance tickets for affected shows will receive full refunds through standard procedures.

Meanwhile, Star Cineplex has taken a cautious approach, suspending its post-6 pm screenings for April 5 and 6 while reviewing the situation. Further updates are expected to be announced in phases.

Industry observers suggest that the move could have a notable impact on box office performance, particularly during the post-Eid period when evening shows typically draw the largest crowds.
