Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has restored its revised tariff structure after the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court vacated the one-month suspension imposed by the High Court on the new rates.
The increased tariff, announced in September, came into immediate effect following a circular issued on Sunday by the Office of the Chief Finance and Accounting Officer of the Chattogram Port Authority.
According to the circular, all port charges for cargo, vessels and related services will now be collected under Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) No. 430-Law/2025 dated 29 October 2025.
The Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division disposed of an appeal against the tariff revision on 25 November, which automatically lifted the earlier 30-day stay order.
The latest Chattogram Port Authority circular confirmed that no suspension order remains in force, clearing the way for full implementation of the revised tariff across all port operations.
Justice Farah Mahbub, Chamber Judge of the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division, vacated the stay order after a hearing on the writ petition on 25 November.
The court also directed the High Court to dispose of the rule on the tariff notification and circular on a priority basis.
The High Court bench of Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque and Justice Ainun Nahar Siddiqa had earlier stayed the new tariff for one month on 9 November and issued a rule asking why the 14 September gazette notification and 30 September circular should not be declared ultra vires.
The writ petition challenging the legality of the tariff notification and circular was filed last month by the Bangladesh Maritime Law Society (BMLS).
