Chattogram Port issued a record 6,301 gate passes on November 18, marking the highest single-day total as the country’s busiest seaport accelerates its digital transformation.
The data, disclosed in a press release signed by Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Faruk, shows the day’s activity included 4,734 consignee gate passes and 1,567 off-dock gate passes.
Faruk said the milestone reflects the Port Authority’s push to expand the use of digital systems to improve transparency, operational speed and security in import-export activities. The port has been rolling out technology-driven processes as part of its broader modernisation plan.
Officials said the Terminal Operating System mobile app has played a key role in boosting efficiency by digitising container handling, gate operations, document processing and real-time monitoring. The shift has helped cut processing times and reduce costs for users, according to the CPA.
Port officials said the move toward an automation-driven, smart-port model is expected to strengthen Chattogram Port’s operational capacity and global competitiveness. They said continued digital upgrades will be critical to improving Bangladesh’s overall trade environment.
