Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC plans to invest Tk250 crore in its second oncology production facility to expand cancer medicine manufacturing capacity and strengthen its prospects in international markets.
The drugmaker disclosed the investment in a filing with the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on 17 October, saying the facility would add annual production capacity of 37.97 crore tablets, 21.10 crore capsules, 2.53 crore blisters and 2 crore injectable vials.
The company expects the investment to boost revenue but did not disclose a completion timeline, financing arrangements or projected additional earnings.
Alongside the expansion, Beacon plans to strengthen its research and development capabilities to prepare its medicines for regulatory approval in markets governed by stringent regulatory authorities.
The company said it would focus on research, product optimisation and compliance with international quality standards to improve its products’ readiness for regulatory assessment and approval.
The initiative is intended to support access to overseas pharmaceutical markets, although Beacon did not identify specific countries or announce any regulatory submissions.
Beacon shares closed 1.33 per cent lower at Tk96.70 on the DSE on Sunday.
