Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after three motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang later claimed responsibility for the attack and issued fresh threats to people in the film industry associated with Salman Khan.
According to Hindustan Times, the incident took place around 7pm on 18 October as Shroff was leaving a football ground. The attackers allegedly fired several rounds before fleeing on a motorcycle.
Shroff’s driver and an autorickshaw driver sustained gunshot injuries and received medical treatment.
According to reports, alleged gang members Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility through social media posts. Their message alleged that Shroff had previously received warnings and threatened others in the Mumbai film industry who continued to work with Khan.
Mumbai Police formed 15 teams to track down the attackers and examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Officers were also reviewing CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence. One person was detained in connection with the case, according to reports.
The gang’s claim and the motive behind the attack remain under investigation. Police have yet to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The incident has renewed concerns over threats against Bollywood personalities. In April 2024, gunmen fired outside Khan’s residence in Bandra.
The Bishnoi gang has also claimed responsibility for other attacks targeting figures connected to the film industry.
