Another victim has died from injuries sustained in a gas explosion at a house in Halishahar of Chattogram, raising the death toll to three.
Samir Ahmed Suman, 40, died around 12pm on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
Earlier around 7:30am, teenager Shawon died while his mother, Nurjahan Akhter Rani, 40, succumbed to her injuries Monday evening. However, Sumon was nephew of Shawon.
Confirming their deaths, the burn institute’s resident surgeon Shaon Bin Rahman said Sumon had burns on 40 percent of his body, while Shawon suffered burns on 50 percent, with both sustaining injuries to their breathing passages.
The explosion occurred around 4:30am on Monday during sehri at a third-floor flat of a six-storey building, Halima Manzil, in Block H of Halishahar due to a gas line leak.
