Bangladesh Bank has launched newly designed banknotes under the “Historic and Archaeological Architecture of Bangladesh” series, bearing the signature of Governor Md Mostakur Rahman.
The central bank said in a press release that the new series of Tk1,000, Tk500, and Tk10 notes was issued on Monday through its Motijheel office. Distribution will follow from other regional offices across the country.
The release comes after the earlier circulation of Tk20, Tk50, and Tk100 notes under the same design series. All new notes will continue to be issued under the signature of the current governor.
Bangladesh Bank clarified that the color, size, design, and security features of the new notes remain identical to the previous versions.
The central bank also confirmed that all newly issued notes, along with existing banknotes and coins, will remain legal tender and can be used as usual for all transactions.
