The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised river ports in several regions to hoist Cautionary Signal No 1 due to the possibility of gusty or squally winds.

According to a special bulletin, temporary west or northwesterly winds with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour may affect several parts of the country, accompanied by rain or thunder showers.

The affected regions include Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet. River ports in these areas have been instructed to hoist Cautionary Signal No 1.

The bulletin said the warning for inland river ports will remain in force until 1am on 8 May.
