American rapper Cardi B has revealed that scammers allegedly spent $60,000 on her American Express card, splurging on designer clothes and Apple products. The star, who is concluding her ‘Little Miss Drama’ tour in support of her second album ‘Am I The Drama?’, shared the news during an Instagram Live session.
According to Cardi B, the fraudulent activity began two weeks ago, with $40,000 spent at Saks Fifth Avenue and $20,000 at an Apple Store before her card was frozen. She claimed to have obtained CCTV footage of four men using her card, warning they would face jail time.
The Grammy Award-winning musician, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, emphasised her vigilance over finances despite a reported net worth of over $88 million. “One dollar cannot be spent without me. I don’t play when it comes to my bread,” she said.
Cardi B explained that her AmEx notifications alerted her to each purchase, allowing her to quickly spot the suspicious transactions. She said her accountant also received alerts and helped cancel the card.
“I got clear pictures of you at the ATM, in Saks and in Apple. You’re going to prison and you’ll pay me back,” she warned. Her security team advised against posting images of the suspects online to avoid interfering with the police investigation.
