The government has formed a six-member cabinet committee to formulate proposals for adjusting the wholesale and retail electricity prices, aimed at addressing the mounting energy crisis triggered by the current global situation.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Monday.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has been named convener of the committee.
The other members include Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Finance Division Secretary Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Power Division Secretary Farzana Momtaz, and Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam.
According to the notification, the committee’s terms of reference involve conducting a detailed review of wholesale and retail electricity prices coordination to resolve the escalating energy and power shortages.
The committee is tasked with preparing specific proposals for submission to cabinet meetings.
