BRAC Bank has opened over 50,000 SME accounts through its Digital Onboarding platform in the past year, reflecting the growing demand for efficient and accessible banking solutions for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh.
Launched in 2025, the platform enables entrepreneurs to open SME accounts in just minutes, eliminating the need for multiple visits and reducing the time traditionally required to complete the account-opening process. Since its pilot launch, the platform has seen strong adoption, signalling the sector’s shift towards faster, more convenient digital banking services.
The platform is fully compliant with Bangladesh Bank regulations and uses secure digital infrastructure to ensure quick service delivery and high customer satisfaction.
Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking at BRAC Bank, explained, “The Digital Onboarding platform is designed to simplify the banking process for SMEs. It reduces the time spent on opening accounts, providing entrepreneurs with quicker access to banking services.”
As of April 2026, BRAC Bank serves over 250,000 SME customers, with the bank’s SME loan portfolio reaching Tk35,000 crore, growing by 48 per cent year-on-year. The Digital Onboarding platform has played a key role in acquiring new customers and increasing the bank’s reach in the SME sector.
BRAC Bank aims to bring an additional 100,000 SME entrepreneurs into the formal banking system through the platform, further advancing the country’s financial inclusion and digital economy.
