Filmmaker Md Borhanul Ashekin, popularly known as Borhan Khan, has won the Best Short Film Director award at the AJFB Star Awards 2025 for his socially conscious short film Blind Road.
According to UNB, the award was presented at a gala ceremony held recently at the BIAM Auditorium in the capital.
The 19th edition of the AJFB Star Awards, organised by the Artist and Journalist Foundation of Bangladesh (AJFB), honoured outstanding achievements by both established stars and emerging talents in the country’s film and music industries. The evening also featured a series of cultural performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Apart from filmmaking, Borhanul Ashekin is a successful textile entrepreneur with extensive experience in international garment exports. Despite his business commitments, he has remained dedicated to creative work.
His ability to combine entrepreneurial success with social responsibility has earned appreciation from audiences. As a social activist, he has taken part in several community initiatives. He received widespread recognition for his COVID-19 awareness campaign, Pashe Achi (I Am By Your Side).
Borhanul Ashekin is also an established author. He has published several books, including the poetry collection Sobuj Prem (Green Love), which received positive responses from readers at the 2019 Amar Ekushey Book Fair.
Over the years, Borhan Khan has worked across television dramas, commercials and documentaries. His work consistently reflects his commitment to socially conscious, life-oriented storytelling.
Reacting to the honour, Borhan Khan said, “Cinema is not merely a medium of entertainment; it is a powerful tool for social change. Blind Road is a very special project for me, and this award represents the love and trust the audience has placed in my work.”
