One of South Asia’s largest music events, the TMSS Channel I Music Awards 2025, took place at Momo Inn in Bogura on Tuesday evening, April 7.
The ceremony opened with ensemble performances of ‘Dhana Dhanya Pushpa Bhara’ and ‘Prothom Bangladesh’.
Veteran singer Kanak Chapa received the lifetime achievement award, while folk icon Kangalini Sufia was honoured with a special award. Prizes were presented across 18 categories, with Apu Mahfuz and Neel Hurerzahan hosting the ceremony. Producer Raju Alim served as project director.
Among the key winners, Liza was named Best Modern Song Artist for ‘Khub Priyo Amar’, while Angel Noor won for Best Modern Song for ‘Jodi Abar’. The track has amassed over 14 million YouTube views.
Bappa Mazumder received Best Composer in the modern category for ‘Obosheshe’ and Tareq Ananda was awarded Best Lyricist for ‘Premboti’. Shahnaz Kazi won for ‘Ma’.
Metrical, the experimental hard rock/heavy metal band from Chittagong, was named Best Band for ‘Gonotontrer Ghuri’, which also earned Setu Chowdhury the Best Sound Engineer award.
Imran and Sithi Saha won Best Duet for ‘Prem Bujhi’, while Beauty was recognised as Best Folk Artist for ‘Chaar Chande Dichhe Jhalak’. Shorfuddin Dewan Sagor won the folk lottery category for ‘Ma Lo Ma’.
In the film category, Atiya Anisha and Shawkat Ali Emon were awarded the Best Film Song and Best Composer for ‘Chotto Sona’, while Dilshad Nahar Kona won the film lottery category for ‘Dushtu Kokil’.
Rohit Sadhukhan was awarded the Best Lyricist award for ‘Beche Jaoa Valobasa’ from the film ‘Deyaler Desh’. Tanvir Tareq was named Best Music Video Producer for ‘Pakhi Amar Nirer Pakhi’.
Other winners included Shahid Kabir Polash for Nazrul Geeti (Srijon Chhande Anande), Nashid Kamal for Classical Music (Sob Sokhi Cholo), Karishma Sanu Sovvota as Best Newcomer (Odhikar) and Bengal Music as Best Audio Company.
Music legends Runa Laila and Sabina Yasmin attended the ceremony to present awards. Performances were delivered by artists including Konal, Zhilik , Imran Mahmudul, Liza, Luipa, Salma and Shafiq Tuhin. Actors Apu Biswas and Ador Azad also appeared in a special segment.
Launched in 2004, the Channel i Music Awards mark two decades this year. Organisers said hosting the event in Bogura reflects a growing effort to take major cultural programmes beyond Dhaka and reach wider audiences.
