A significant dispute has erupted within the Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), with allegations of deep conspiracies surrounding its leadership and election process.
Following the announcement of the national election date, a faction allegedly locked the chamber building, halting its operations for 18 days. The government intervened by appointing an administrator, Mejboul Karim, to resolve the deadlock.
The chamber, which typically holds elections every two years, has been embroiled in leadership struggles, particularly after the resignation of its long-standing president, Masudur Rahman Milan, in June.
The political affiliations of several members, including Senior Vice-President Sairul Islam, have sparked division among the local business community.
Amid the ongoing tensions, a meeting was held to discuss the future of BCCI, aiming to ensure it is managed by actual business professionals.
Attendees included prominent local businessmen and political figures, who called for transparent leadership. Despite these efforts, the situation remains volatile as the Chamber seeks to hold an election within 120 days.
