The bodies of five Bangladeshi expatriates, who were killed in a road accident in Qatar’s Shahaniya area, are scheduled to arrive in Sylhet on Tuesday.
A press release issued on Monday, signed by Mohammad Mashhudul Kabir, counsellor (Labour) at the Labour Welfare Wing of the Bangladesh Embassy in Doha, confirmed the development.
Financial assistance from the Wage Earners’ Welfare Board has been provided to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies, the release said.
According to the statement, the victims-hailing from Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet-died in a road accident in Shahaniya on the morning of 21 June.
The deceased were Abdul Kadir of Gachbari village, Mustak Ahmed Afnan and Jubayer Ahmed of Majhataluk village, Jasim Uddin of Agataluk village, and Jibal Ahmed of Amarpur village.
The Labour Welfare Wing said the bodies will be flown to Bangladesh on Monday at 10:15pm (local Qatar time) aboard Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-226 from Hamad International Airport.
The flight is expected to land at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport at 6:50am on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said its relevant department is processing the required documentation and formalities to ensure proper repatriation and handover of the bodies to the families.
