The BNP has reshuffled its candidates in Chattogram, nominating former joint secretary general Aslam Chowdhury and Jatiyatabadi Paat Sramik Dal President Sayeed Al Noman for the upcoming election.
The move has also led to a change in the seat of party Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Earlier, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury had been nominated for Chattogram-10, while Chattogram-11 remained vacant. He was seeking the nomination for his son Israfil Khosru in Chattogram-11, but the BNP stood firm on its policy of not fielding multiple candidates from the same family.
As a result, the party nominated Saeed Al Noman for Chattogram-10 and shifted Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury to Chattogram-11, a constituency from which he has contested elections in the past.
Saeed Al Noman confirmed receiving the nomination in a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
In another change, the BNP replaced its initial nominee Kazi Md Salahuddin in Chattogram-4 with Aslam Chowdhury. The move followed protests, including road blockades, by supporters of Aslam Chowdhury after the earlier nomination was announced.
BNP Chattogram divisional organising secretary Mahbuber Rahman confirmed the candidate changes and new nominations in the three constituencies.
