BNP leader injured in Rayerbazar clash over previous enmity

A local BNP leader was injured in a clash over a previous dispute in the Rayerbazar area of Mohammadpur in Dhaka on Tuesday night, police said.

Police detained 38-year-old Shakil in connection with the incident, which took place at around 11:30pm on a paved road in front of a garage owned by Ward No 34 BNP Senior Vice-President Abbas Uddin Chishti in Pabna House Gali.

According to information, an argument broke out at around 11pm between Abbas’s son Bappi and Rezaul’s son Apon over a previous dispute. At one stage, Rezaul, Shakil, Shakil’s son and several others gathered at the scene and became involved in a heated altercation.

After being informed, Abbas went to the spot, where a scuffle broke out between the two sides. Abbas was critically injured during the clash.

Rayerbazar Police Outpost In-charge SI Md Akkel Ali confirmed the incident and said Shakil had been detained for his alleged involvement.
