BNP has announced the cancellation of its scheduled election rally on Sunday in Nayapaltan, Dhaka.

The decision comes as the party gears up for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed the change during a press conference at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Friday.

He stated that, instead of the rally, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman would address party supporters across various locations in Dhaka North and South on 8 and 9 February.

Rizvi emphasised that these events would serve as the party’s primary election outreach, with Tarique Rahman delivering key messages in different parts of the capital.

In a significant development, several newly elected student leaders from Jahangirnagar University Central Student Council (Jucsu), including newly elected Vice President Abdur Rashid Jitu, joined BNP and its student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).

The leaders made their formal induction during the same press briefing.

The cancellation of the rally and the shift to multiple smaller engagements reflect the BNP’s strategic approach as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
