The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the country’s four maritime ports to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
According to a weather warning issued on Friday morning, the land depression over the West Bengal coast and adjoining areas has moved west-northwestwards and is currently situated over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal.
The system is expected to move further in a west-northwest direction and weaken gradually.
Under its influence, squally weather may sweep over the maritime ports, the North Bay, and the adjoining coastal areas. Consequently, the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been directed to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three.
Additionally, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
