Bangladesh’s rising chess talent, Monon Reza Neer, has drawn national attention by becoming the country’s youngest International Master at just 14 years old. He surpassed South Asia’s first Grandmaster, Niaz Morshed, who earned the same title at 15 years and 5 months.
Neer won the 48th National Chess Championship in July 2024 and later became the zonal champion at the World Cup qualifiers held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in October 2024.
With this victory, he secured his place in the World Cup finals, to be held in Goa, India, from 31 October to 27 November.
To celebrate his remarkable achievements, BM-92, a voluntary organization formed by Neer’s classmates and friends, extended warm congratulations.
On behalf of the group, the president presented Neer with a jersey bearing the organization’s logo as a token of appreciation and wished him success in the upcoming World Cup Chess Championship, calling on the nation to pray for his victory.
