bKash and City Bank have introduced a pay-later facility for mobile recharges, allowing users to top up up to Tk1,000 without having funds in their accounts.
The service enables eligible customers to recharge any mobile number instantly and repay the amount within seven days without interest, the companies said Wednesday.
Users can recharge between Tk100 and Tk1,000 across all operators, including prepaid and postpaid connections, and purchase internet packs, talktime or bundled offers. A processing fee will apply.
The approved pay-later amount can be used in full or in multiple transactions, regardless of the available balance in the bKash account.
Repayments will be automatically deducted from the user’s bKash balance within seven days, though customers may settle earlier. Delayed payments will incur interest in line with terms and conditions.
The feature integrates with bKash’s mobile recharge option, where eligible users can select “Pay Later” and confirm transactions after choosing a repayment timeline.
The companies said the service is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted connectivity during urgent needs while supporting wider adoption of digital financial services.
bKash, Bangladesh’s largest mobile financial service provider, has been expanding credit-linked offerings in partnership with banks as it seeks to deepen usage of cashless transactions.
