Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian smuggled goods worth around Tk1.90 crore in separate operations along the Brahmanbaria and Cumilla borders.
The drives were conducted by Sultanpur Battalion 60 BGB in border areas under Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria and Brahmanpara and Adarsha Sadar upazilas of Cumilla based on specific intelligence, BGB said.
The operations were carried out under the direction of Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Shariful Islam with patrol teams from Khadla BOP in Kasba, Shashidal BOP in Brahmanpara and Barojwala BOP in Adarsha Sadar.
A pickup vehicle and a large quantity of smuggled goods were seized during the drives.
The items include cumin, henna, cosmetics, sarees, basmati rice, soap, fuchka, firecrackers and medicines.
The total estimated value of the seized goods stands at Tk1,90,66,070.
BGB officials said the items are being handed over to customs offices following legal procedures.
Lt Col SM Shariful Islam said BGB will continue its efforts to ensure border security and prevent smuggling in line with directives from the Director General.
