The Bangladesh Football Federation has released ticket revenue figures from its recent home internationals, with the federation placing match accounts before the executive committee during Tuesday’s meeting at Police Plaza.
BFF member and media committee chairman Amirul Islam Babu said the Bangladesh–Singapore fixture generated 1 crore 15 lakh taka, while the Bangladesh–Hong Kong match brought in 1 crore 2 lakh 7 thousand 874 taka. The high-profile Bangladesh–India encounter earned 1 crore 88 lakh taka from ticket sales. Revenue figures from the recent friendlies against Nepal and Bhutan were also tabled.
Babu said expenditure calculations for the matches were ongoing. “Once the accounts are completed, we will share them,” he said.
After the financial review, Babu highlighted recent performances across national teams and development squads. He said the executive committee was particularly encouraged by the Under-20 side’s victory over India in the SAFF Under-20 Championship.
“Our Under-20 boys have made the country proud,” Babu said. “The executive committee thanks the entire team for their hard work and success.”
He also acknowledged the women’s national team for their efforts in two recent international matches. “They worked extremely hard and produced encouraging results,” he said. “Both teams were officially congratulated at the meeting.”
The development work conducted through the Shamsul Huda Football Academy and the BFF Development Committee, especially the youth team’s recent tour to China, was also recognised. “The players, coaches and officials all deserve our gratitude,” Babu added. “They represented Bangladesh well and achieved strong results.”
Babu reminded the media that the national Under-15 championship will begin on the 20th of this month and called for stronger coverage. “Please help promote these matches. Youth football needs more attention,” he said.
He announced that men’s and women’s futsal competitions will start in January. “Both our boys’ and girls’ futsal teams will participate,” he said. “This is an important step in broadening our football activities.”
The executive committee also confirmed Sylhet Stadium as the venue that will be prepared for hosting international fixtures. “We have confirmed Sylhet as our chosen stadium,” Babu said. “We will seek FIFA’s support to bring it up to international match standards.”
Seven other stadiums recently allocated to the BFF by the National Sports Council will be upgraded in phases. “We will take up the remaining grounds one after another,” he said.
In response to concerns from journalists about delays in receiving domestic league results, Babu urged direct communication. “If you do not receive the results on time, please inform us. We will instruct our media department to send them quickly,” he said.
He encouraged broader coverage of domestic competitions. “Matches in the Premier League, first division and other competitions deserve more attention,” Babu said. “More reporting will help grow the game.”
