Tamim Iqbal has received congratulations from BFF after his election as president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Tamim secured the top post unopposed following Sunday’s BCB elections in Mirpur after no rival challenged his nomination.
In a statement issued on Monday, BFF president Tabith Awal praised Tamim’s achievements as a player and expressed confidence in his future as a sports administrator.
“On behalf of the members of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation and personally from myself, I extend to you our sincere and warmest congratulations on your election as President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).”
Tabith added: “I believe that just as you achieved success in your playing career through your relentless and extraordinary love for cricket, you will be equally successful as a sports administrator.”
The BFF chief also expressed hope that Bangladesh cricket would continue to grow under Tamim’s leadership.
“We hope that under your strong leadership, wisdom and insight, cricket will become even more dynamic, and that Bangladesh’s position in the world of cricket will be further strengthened.”
He concluded the message by wishing Tamim good health and success in his new role.
Tamim entered the election as the leading candidate after topping the directors’ vote. He received 73 votes in the Dhaka clubs category before fellow directors selected him as BCB president. The former Bangladesh captain became the board’s president after standing as the sole candidate for the position.
The 37-year-old had already served as head of the BCB’s ad hoc committee before securing a full mandate through the election process. He now begins a four-year term at the helm of Bangladesh cricket.
