The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a reduction in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas for consumers.
The retail price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by 29 taka, now set at 1,241 taka. This new price will be effective from 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
At the same time, the price of autogas has been reduced by 1 taka and 38 poisha per liter, bringing the new price to 56 taka and 77 poisha (including VAT).
BERC stated that the price adjustments were based on the average price of propylene and butane for October, as determined by Saudi Aramco, which is 482 US dollars per metric ton. The calculation used a ratio of 35:65 for propylene and butane.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed pointed out that in September, the price of LPG was reduced by 3 taka to 1,270 taka, while autogas was priced at 58 taka and 15 poisha per liter.
Earlier, in August, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder was reduced by 91 taka, bringing it to 1,273 taka. During the same month, the price of autogas was reduced by 4 taka and 18 poisha, with the new price set at 58 taka and 28 poisha per liter, including VAT.
In 2024, the prices of LPG and autogas have decreased four times, increased seven times, and remained unchanged once.
