BDCricTime founder Md Jabed Ali has earned international recognition after receiving the Commonwealth Business Excellence Award for Best Entrepreneur for his contribution to digital sports media.
Founded in 2015 as a passion project, BDCricTime has since grown into the most popular digital sports media platform in Bangladesh, reaching millions daily through its website, app and social media. With more than 18 million followers, it has become South Asia’s fastest-growing cricket site.
The award, presented in Malaysia, celebrates Jabed Ali’s vision of turning his personal love for cricket into a global digital media brand. “This award is not mine alone,” he told TIMES of Bangladesh. “It belongs to every cricket fan in Bangladesh whose love and trust made BDCricTime what it is today.”
Under his leadership, BDCricTime has streamed major tournaments including the ICC T20 World Cup and the Nidahas Trophy, bringing fans closer to international cricket. It was also the first platform in Bangladesh to launch a live cricket score app competing with international rivals such as ESPNcricinfo and Cricbuzz.
In 2019, the platform received the BASIS National ICT Award in the Media and Entertainment category. Beyond awards, Jabed Ali has created opportunities for young journalists, promoted sports media as a career path and contributed to the digital transformation of sports coverage in Bangladesh.
