The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to organise the country’s first Level-1 curator course as part of an initiative to improve professional skills in cricket ground and turf management.
The BCB’s Grounds Committee is organising the course, which will be conducted by Tony Hemming, the board’s head of turf management and an ICC-accredited curator. The BCB announced the programme through a media release on Saturday.
The course will be held in two phases. The first two-day workshop will take place on August 11 and 12 at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, running from 9am to 5pm on both days. A total of 30 ground staff from Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Purbachal, BKSP and Fatullah will take part.
The second workshop will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, on August 23 and 24. Forty ground staff from Mirpur, BKSP, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Bogura and Rajshahi will participate in the two-day workshop.
According to the BCB, the course aims to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in ground and turf management. The initiative is also intended to improve the standard of maintenance at cricket venues across the country and enhance their capacity to prepare pitches and grounds for domestic and international cricket.
Participants who successfully complete the course will receive certificates from the BCB.
