Bangladesh Cricket Board moved decisively on Thursday, removing M Nazmul Islam from the finance committee and handing interim control to board president Bulbul, a decision confirmed by the BCB through an official press release.

The board cited a review of recent developments and said it acted in the organisation’s best interests. Bulbul stepped in immediately, using powers granted to him under Article 31 of the BCB constitution.

This move places financial oversight directly under the president’s control. The board clearly wants speed, clarity and tighter command at a time when uncertainty threatens stability.

BCB framed the decision as an administrative necessity rather than a political one. The language focused on efficiency and smooth operation, which suggests the board felt the finance wing needed firmer hands.

The board also stressed that players remain its top priority. It reiterated its commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of all cricketers under its authority.

That message matters. Financial turbulence often spills into dressing rooms, and BCB appears keen to shut that door early.
