The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched its first Level-1 curator course to develop professional skills in cricket pitch and ground management, with BCB’s head of turf management Tony Hemming leading the training.
The two-phase course, organised by the BCB Grounds Committee, began in Chattogram on Tuesday.
The two-day course at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium is being conducted by Hemming, an ICC-accredited curator and soil specialist from Australia. BCB curator Zahid Reza Babu, who is responsible for the venue, is assisting him as co-trainer.
Groundsmen from Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Purbachal and Fatullah are taking part in the Chattogram session.
Participants must pass an examination following the practical activities on the second day to receive certification.
The Dhaka leg of the course will be held on August 23-24 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with groundsmen from Mirpur, BKSP, Sylhet, Khulna, Barishal, Bogura and Rajshahi expected to participate.
A total of 70 groundsmen are scheduled to take part in the two-phase course.
