Bangladesh Bank (BB) has promoted Nahid Rahman to the post of Executive Director, effective from 30 June 2026. Rahman was serving as General Manager (Finance and Accounts) at The Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Ltd on deputation before receiving the promotion.
Rahman joined Bangladesh Bank in 1999 as an Assistant Director in the General Side after beginning his career as a Probationary Officer at Southeast Bank. Over more than two decades of service, he has held key positions at several departments of the central bank, including the Banking Regulation and Policy Department, Foreign Exchange Reserve and Treasury Management Department, Human Resources Management Department, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy and Credit Guarantee Department.
A Bangladesh Bank statement said Rahman has contributed to various areas of banking policy, regulation, training and financial management during his career.
Rahman holds a Master of Commerce (MCom) degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Dhaka. He later completed a Master of Bank Management (MBM) degree from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) while serving on deputation.
He also obtained a master’s degree in Development Economics from Japan’s Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University under the JDS Scholarship programme. He is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh.
Rahman completed an advanced professional certification course on Credit Delivery and Financial Partnership (CDFP) organised by Development Finance Institutions (DFI) and The Fletcher School at Tufts University. His research papers and articles on banking-related issues have also been published in professional journals.
Born into a respected Muslim family in Khulna district, Rahman is the son of Atiqur Rahman, a retired banker, and Selima Rahman, a homemaker. His spouse, Md Alamgir, is a professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM). Rahman has one daughter.
