Bangladesh secured a victory in the first ODI against Pakistan, with pacer Nahid Rana making a significant impact with the ball. The young bowler’s performance drew high praise from Habibul Bashar, former Bangladesh captain and current BCB selector.

Speaking to reporters in Mirpur, Bashar said:
An excellent bowler! Nahid picked up wickets and bowled very well. It’s fantastic to see a pacer challenging the batsmen and putting them on the back foot.”

Reflecting on the pitch at Mirpur, Bashar added:
“There were high expectations, but seeing a pacer bowl so brilliantly was a delight. Nahid’s spell was exceptional. Pakistan are not a weak side; even their new players performed well. This kind of performance can change a match.”

He also commended BCB curator Tony Hemeing for preparing pitches conducive to skillful bowling:
“He’s done an excellent job, both here and previously in Sylhet. The Sylhet wickets were lively, and he manages these conditions very well.”

Nahid Rana’s performance underlines the growing strength of Bangladesh’s pace attack, signalling a promising path as the team gears up for future tournaments.
