The Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) organised a workshop in Barishal on 28 December to raise awareness on the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR, 2025) and electronic government procurement (e-GP) among tenderers and procuring entity officials.
The workshop was held as part of the authority’s ongoing outreach programme to familiarise stakeholders with provisions of the new rules, the BPPA said in a press release.
BPPA CEO SM Moin Uddin Ahmed attended the event as chief guest, while Barishal Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman was the special guest.
The session was presided over by Barishal Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md Khairul Alam Sumon.
BPPA Director Shah Eyamin-Ul Islam, also a national procurement trainer, made a detailed presentation on key aspects of PPR, 2025.
The Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) facilitated the workshop at a conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office in Barishal.
The PPR, 2025 came into effect on 28 September following the enactment of the amended Public Procurement Act, 2006 on the same day.
Since then, the BPPA has been organising similar workshops across districts and upazilas to engage stakeholders through face-to-face discussions, clarify ambiguities and strengthen understanding to improve compliance with the new rules.
The BPPA CEO said strict compliance with the PPR, 2025 is essential for enhancing transparency, efficiency and competition in public procurement.
Around 70 representatives from procuring entities and tenderers in Barishal participated in the workshop.
