Veteran singer Runa Laila is set to return with a new Bengali ghazal, this time collaborating with singer-composer Bappa Majumdar on a track titled ‘Anayase’.
Runa Laila shared the announcement through a video message on social media, saying the project marks a relatively rare attempt in Bengali music to present a ghazal in this format.
The song was initially composed by Bappa Majumdar, who had intended it as a solo performance for Runa Laila. However, after hearing the composition, she proposed that they perform it together, leading to a joint recording.
Runa Laila described the collaboration as an unexpected but satisfying creative decision, adding that Bappa was initially surprised by the idea but later agreed to the duet.
Lyrics for the song have been written by Ghalib Hasan. The release is expected on May 16, subject to final arrangements.
